SKG Makers Team
Avgi Metaxa
Project Manager
I am Avgi, founder of Greek Eco Project. I live in Thessaloniki, but my work takes me to seas, coasts, mountains, and cities all over Greece. I started this initiative because I believe that love for nature is not enough on its own—it needs to be put into action, collectively and continuously. Through clean-ups, awareness, creation, and scientific observation activities, I aim every day to motivate citizens, volunteers, organizations, and children to take care of what connects us all: the environment. I am not alone. Together with an exceptional team of people, we have created projects such as Blue Halkidiki, Blue Argosaronic, etc., which are not limited to simply collecting marine litter, but aim for a deeper change in mindset, knowledge, biodiversity, and responsible action. I believe that every small action can bring about big change. And I try every day to be part of the solution.
Stamatia Petridou
Assistant Project Manager
My academic background was established in the Department of Agriculture, Ichthyology, and Aquatic Environment, and later expanded into Environmental Sciences with a focus on Climate Change. Today, you will find me engaged in a wide range of projects focusing on raising community awareness around environmental issues, marine pollution, and waste management. I firmly believe that nature and humanity can coexist, and this is the message I strive to convey to local citizens of all ages—especially in children, who are the creators of the present and the inspirers of the future. Preserving the environment is a responsibility we all share, as we are an essential component of it.
Stella Zarafidou
Maker
I’m Stella! Some friends also call me Suki, and that isn't a coincidence, because in Japanese, “Suki” means “to love something,” and when I create, I do it with love! As a graduate of the Department of Informatics at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, I carry with me the precision and logic of the sciences. At the same time, creativity is an inseparable part of my identity. This balance between scientific thinking, artistic expression, and my love for nature has led me to the philosophy of reuse. I constantly see possibilities and imagine beautiful things where others see only waste, and I believe that sometimes the best raw material is the one we already have! My love for the environment and the need to protect our planet’s resources form the core of all my creations. I look forward to creating wonderful things together with you!
Christina Stavrouli
Program and Communications Coordinator
I am Christina. I grew up in Thessaloniki, I am in love with the sea and passionate about the environment. I say I am an international relations specialist with a master's degree in environmental policy, but at the same time... I run! To beaches for cleanups, to Europe for training and internships, at international forums, and much more. I love nature, purposeful actions, people who share ideas, and creations that have a history. I look forward to creating together!
